Client Objective:
The client needed to replace an aging underground slug catcher approaching the end of its reliable service life. The goal was to install a new above-ground slug catcher with minimal operational downtime during the transition.
JEPCO’s Role:
JEPCO was selected to provide full-scope engineering services for the project. Our team kicked off the work by updating existing P&IDs, identifying new tie-in points, and performing relief valve sizing calculations.
Once engineering data sheets and drawings were completed, JEPCO managed vendor engagement—soliciting bids, preparing bid tabulations, and coordinating with the client’s procurement team to ensure smooth progression.
Scope of Work Included:
- Process and mechanical design
- Civil/structural and foundation engineering
- Electrical and instrumentation design
- 3D scanning to develop a detailed cut-over plan, enabling a seamless switchover from the old underground system to the new above-ground unit
Throughout construction and start-up, JEPCO provided comprehensive home office support, supplemented by site visits across all disciplines to ensure successful implementation.
Our Approach:
At JEPCO, we believe a collaborative, team-based approach is key to project success. For this project, a clear understanding of the design basis and client priorities—particularly safety, cost control, and schedule adherence—was central to every decision we made.
