General Description
E&I Designers provide project electrical and instrumentation design services and drafting services, including electrical layouts, equipment drawings, standard details and construction drawings in compliance with process and client requirements to the level of competency outlined in this document.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing electrical, instrument and equipment controls design for Mining, Refining, Petrochemical, Natural Gas and other industrial and manufacturing facilities
- Provide improvement, modification and/or additions to electrical and instrumentation design documents as required to meet process requirements
- Ensures compliance with all project requirements including all drawings as listed in Technical Responsibilities below
- Ensures that discipline design/drafting standards and operations manuals are accurately maintained and that improvements are made when appropriate
Technical Responsibilities
- Prepares, revises or creates the following drawings/documents:
- Electrical Single Line Drawings
- Motor Schematics
- MCC Layout Drawings and Bill of Material
- Wiring Schedules or Drawings for Junction Boxes, PLC or DCS cabinets
- Cable and Conduit Schedules and Interconnect Drawings
- Power Distribution Drawings, including Panel Box Schedules
- Lighting Drawings and Details
- Grounding Drawings and Details
- Electrical Area Classification Determination and Design Drawings
- Heat Trace Schedules
- P&ID’s
- Instrument Loop Diagrams
- Instrument Location Drawings
- Instrument Installation Detail Drawings
Qualifications
- AS, BS or Technical Degree in design or related field or relevant industry experience
- 3 to 5 years related experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation, equipment control systems, power distribution, motor controls, PLC controls and electrical machine design.
- Proficient with AutoCAD 3D
- Prior experience with heavy industrial project design preferred
- Be able to travel for site visits to client locations
- Is a United States citizen able to meet background checks required by TWIC
- Complete pre-employment drug screen and participate in random screening program required by DISA
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
