General Description
An individual classified as an Electrical Senior Engineer is a part of the Electrical and Instrumentation team, reporting to the Manager of E&I Group. This Individual will have the responsibility to perform routine assignments that are defined and require the application of electrical standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Individuals work assignments will be completed under the direction of the E&I Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Completes engineering calculations, engineering specifications and designs with a high level of proficiency in all the areas of electrical and instrumentation design
- Create or revise the following drawings in conjunction with design team members and under the direction of the E&I Manager Engineers:

- Engineering Specifications
- Construction Specifications
- Equipment Lists
- Electrical Single Line Drawings
- Motor Schematics
- MCC Layout Drawings and Bill of Material
- Hazardous Area Drawings and Details
- Wiring Schedules or Drawings for junction boxes, PLC or DCS cabinets
- Cable and Conduit Schedules and interconnect Drawings
- Power Distributions Drawings, including Panel Box Layouts
- Lighting Drawings and Details
- Grounding drawings and Details
- Heat Trace Schedules
- Bills of Material, as required
- P&ID’s
- Loop drawings
- Instrument Location Drawings
- Instrument Installation Drawings
Expectations
- This Individual will have the responsibility of performing detailed phases of design engineering assignments for a project of various size and complexity. Plans, assigns, reviews and approves the work of other engineers and designers
- This individual must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of design engineering and capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
- Performs audits of vendor supplied information against engineering specifications and data sheets for specific projects. Interfaces directly with equipment vendors during specification, order and fabrication of equipment
- Writes and/or modifies engineering specifications. Maintains drawing, equipment and instrument lists
- Attends Project Coordination meetings as directed, prepared to discuss current progress and coordination needs.
- Assists Project Team by completing accurate drawings to properly communicate engineering and design characteristics and construction requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four (4) year degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of related design and field experience in heavy industrial industries (refining, mining, petrochemical, manufacturing)
- Advanced level of computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling and engineering related computer software
- In addition to skills applying the NEC
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be able to travel for site visits to client locations
- Is a United States citizen able to meet background checks required by TWIC
- Complete pre-employment drug screen and participate in random screening program required by DISA
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- PLC or DCS wiring and system design experience
- Familiar with computer analysis software for Electrical Engineering
